Kochi :The Kerala High Court on Monday set aside the state
government's decision enhancing the E-Tender ceiling of local bodies
from Rs five lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
Earlier, High Court had directed that all contracts for various works
carried out by local bodies be done through public E-tender.
Thereafter, the government without assigning any reason, enhanced the limit to Rs 15 lakh from Rs five lakh.
This was challenged in the court by contractors and councillors of local bodies. Justice A V Ramakrishna Pillai, setting aside the government decision, said that no reason has been assigned to enhance the ceiling limit
The court observed that it was not known under what circumstances the limit was increased to Rs 15 lakh.
