Thiruvananthapuram: Public Service Commission (PSC) has recommended the inclusion of a proficiency test in Malayalam for successful candidates to complete their probation period under the proposed Kerala Administrative Service (KAS). Considering the draft special rules for KAS - already approved by the cabinet and submitted to PSC for suggestions - at a special meeting on Tuesday , PSC recommended an amendment that would save the candidates from the trouble of obtaining equivalency certificates for their bachelor degrees secured from universities outside the state. The draft special rules with recommended changes will be put up for final approval at the next PSC board meeting on October 30 and it will be handed over to the government that day.
