New Delhi: A day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met key economic ministers and pushed for reforms, the Union Cabinet on Thursday failed to clear the Pension Bill . Sources said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chose to keep to keep quiet when the Pension Bill was discussed.
TMC nominee and Railway Minister Mukul Roy decided to attend the Cabinet meeting at the last minute after initial indications that he would boycott it to send the signal that the Pension Bill was anti-people, and his party was not in favour of the proposed legislation. Sources added that the decision to defer the Bill had already been taken prior to the Cabinet meeting.
