Kottayam.The state level pilot project of the biometric census for the national population register NPR was inagurated last friday at Kottayam by state revenue minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.
Speeking at the inagural function, minister said that it would not only help planning process but also strengthen the security of the nation.The pilot project will cover all the wards of Kottayam municipality and is expected to be completed by july end.this process include collection of fingerprints of fingers, photographs and iris scan of all persons above the age of five.Personal information and biometric details will be given to the persons and they will have 24 hours to make correction and there after it will be sent to Unique Identity Authority of India .Within 45 days the UID card with the UID number will be given by the authorities.
