Kochi. In a bid to end the exploitation of nurses in Kerala, the State Government has decided to direct private hospitals to pay salaries to nurses through banks.
An order in this regard was issued yesterday by the Labour department. The department had taken this initiative in the light of mounting complaints about disparities between the actual salary paid to the nurses and the salary shown in the hospital records.
Nurses in several hospitals are demanding a hike in the minimum wages fixed by the government as it was not sufficient for survival considering the cost of living in the state.
